As Vice President Marketing, General Manager, and Director, he built
consumer products businesses for Frito-Lay, Pepsi-Cola International,
Nabisco, Borden, and Pepperidge Farm via key strategic alliances. As
Vice President New Business Development, he developed and managed 20
strategic research and development alliances with companies that extended
Appleton Papers capabilities into new technologies, industries and markets,
generating new revenues and profits. Alliances were developed with companies
as diverse as Johnson & Johnson, Dow Chemical, Kodak, Clorox, Raytheon,
Motorola, Philips, Mitsui Chemical, Air Products and SC Johnson.
As Managing Director and Partner at SAGE Worldwide (WPP/Ogilvy & Mather),
Dechert-Hampe & Company, the Michael Allen Company and Market Perspectives
strategic marketing and sales management consultancies, he developed
alliance strategies for clients seeking profitable growth and improved
performance within competitive markets. Representative clients included
Procter & Gamble, Nestle, Colgate, Mars, Inc., General Mills, Sprint,
Visa, Pfizer, Miles, Inc., Penzoil-Quaker State, Hewlett-Packard, Sara
